POOL: Summer is quickly drawing to a close. It was a good one when the weather finally cooperated. And we are in for some beautiful days this first week of September! The good news is: the board has agreed to keep the pool open until September 11th or as long as the temperatures stay elevated. The bad news is: The pool will only be heated with the natural force of the Sun. Unfortunately the heater has an issue that will be costly to fix so it was decided to wait until Spring to tackle that problem.
Special Meeting: Don’t forget to attend the September 2nd meeting @ 9 a.m. in the Memorial Firepit area. You might want to bring your own chair if you have one. The topic of conversation will be Siding the buildings, the quotes we received from Bilt and Valley View Builders, presentation of 2 or 3 testimonials from people who used Bilt, and assessment options. A vote will take place so be sure to assign a proxy if you will not attend.
For those who are curious about the Tran construction project (restaurant property), a brief update will be provided after the discussion about siding and the special assessment.
Wasps and Yellow Jackets: This year has been particularly bad with respect to wasps/hornets/yellow jacket. Orkin explained the reason we have discovered such a huge presence this year is due, in part, to the fact that we had an extremely mild winter. Also, the yellow jackets have taken to occupying old hornets’ nests. According to Orkin, this is an unusual behavior for the extremely, aggressive insects. When the technicians did an inspection of buildings 2-5, they found 3 in-ground nests and at least 4 hornets’ nests attached to the buildings. They also treated one very large hornet’s nest in a basket located in an owner’s shed. It was being occupied by yellow jackets. All have been treated. The problem should be under control for this year but in the future, if everyone could inspect the outside of their units in the spring and through the summer, we can treat the problem before they get out of control. Just contact the property manager upon discovery of any nests.
